BMC V 218: "115 R. [P. 2], large text type. The majuscules, except Qu, are too small for the lower-case and closely resemble those ot Arnoldus 114 R. [P. 1] (= Type 1:114R bei Christoph Arnold (Venedig, Offizin 9)). A variety of forms of Qu is used with the type: (1) in April, 1475 (IB. 20124) (GW11407) separate Qu, the Q of medium size with long, curved tail, is alone found; this Q is exclusively used throughout for the abbreviation of the Roman name Quintus; (2) in July, 1475 (IB. 20127) (M27816) a peculiar cramped single Qu has become the predominant form and continues to the almost entire exclusion of other forms to April, 1477; (3) another single Qu (not reproduced), wider and dropped below the line to left, probably owing to a fault in casting, occasionally appears in 1476 (IA. 20137) (GW06445), but is only found afterwards in 1480 (IB. 20177, 20179) (GW06936, GW06830); (4) a third single Qu, larger, the Q resting below the line, with long, almost flat tail, has become the characteristic form by October, 1477 (IA. 20155) (GW02766), although the other forms persist side by side with it (see notes to single books). Proctor divided the type into the stages 2A (= Type 2:113R) and 2B (Type 2*:115R) by the absence and presence respectively of this last Qu. Upright & of the usual kind is at first found with this type, the same character tilted to the left was substituted about the same time that the final Qu appears, though upright & still occurs here and there. a with narrow loop and oblique loop line is found in the first book (IB. 20124) (GW11407) and occasionally elsewhere; a with wide, flat loop is the usual form; q3 is at first separate, a tied form appears in 1478, another tied form, with 3 narrower and higher up the q, at the end of Filippo's career (IB. 20192, Proctor 'state 2c') (GW02478). is found only in IB. 20179 (1480) (GW06830). In use in and after 1475."
