Needham: 107 mm S einfach (wie Type 1:100G bei Goswin Gops (Köln, Offizin 12)): Unterscheidungsmerkmal zur Dares/Dictys-Gruppe Type 1:99G bei Drucker des Dictys (Arnold ter Hoernen) (Köln, Offizin 3), Type 1:100G bei Drucker des Dares (Johann Schilling (Solidi)) (Köln, Offizin 4) P2 immer mit doppelter Innensehne (wie Type 1:100G bei Goswin Gops (Köln, Offizin 12) u. Type 1:99G bei Drucker des Dictys (Arnold ter Hoernen) (Köln, Offizin 3)): Unterscheidungsmerkmal zu Type 1:100G bei Drucker des Dares (Johann Schilling (Solidi)) (Köln, Offizin 4) BMC I 232: "100, usually measuring 105 whether by spacing or changes in the size of the body is not clear, text type. Mr. Proctor distinguished this type from Gops's (Type 1:100G bei Goswin Gops (Köln, Offizin 12)) on the ground that the latter's is cast on a smaller body and that the section mark §, used correctly in these books, is always used as S by Gops. According to the view here taken, partly by wear, partly by the addition or substitution of new forms, e.g. a rounder E and S, the type as used in the' Dictys ' group had already been considerably modified: subsequently, at the stage when Gops put his name in a single book, the section mark §, which was not needed for its proper purpose, was economically used as an additional S. A positive link with Gops may perhaps be found in the occurrence of a filed out Q in the latter's edition of the Sermo de praesentatione (IA. 3903 = M27671), a few examples of this form being found in most of the books of this group. But even if the continuity of the fount be accepted, it was not necessarily in the same hands in 1473 as in 1475." |
